The police in Ukraine has confiscated various crypto mining equipment from the site of a top secret nuclear power facility, the local news agency Internetua reports.
According to the publication the hardware, used for crypto mining was uncovered after a ride by special security forces in offices of the administrative department of the South Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plant, a top secret facility run by Energoatom, a state owned company, where no internet access or external computer devices are allowed.
Among the confiscated hardware are six Radeon RX 470 GPU video cards, some 16 other unspecified video cards, a motherboard, ten hard drives, USB flash drives, some cooling units and a router.
A criminal proceeding has been initiated by the local prosecution, on suspicion that the security of the power plant has been compromised.
According to the report, the hardware had been used for mining GPU-centric digital currencies like Ethereum.
