US Department of Justice Charges Serbian Man for Investment Fraud

The US Department of Justice has charged one Serbian national Kristijan Krstic, age 45, for being involved in scammer crypto schemes as well as money laundering through his own trading platforms.

Krstic is the founder and main brain behind “Start Options” and “B2G”, two shady crypto investment platforms. The official press release stated that between 2107 and 2018 investors were lured into purchasing securities from both Start Options and B2G. The accused was selling securities in the form of investment contracts. The Department of Justice revealed that Krstic transferred some $7 million in illicit funds between the two unregulated platforms.

FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge Kristi Johnson in a press statement claimed that the criminal devised smarts and attractive methods for making his platform appealing to investors. Krstic then proceeded to fabricate positive claims about his two companies in order to make it seem more legitimate.

The money that users deposited in Start Options and B2G never was rightfully invested, as Krstic promised, but was carefully funneled to the Philipines. There, an account, as well as a cryptocurrency wallet, were slowly accumulating all the stolen money. In order to further cover his tracks, Krstic alleged that Start Options was sold off to a Russian private equity investor.

Similar scams are rampant all over the world. In a similar case, the US Attorney Office of the NY Southern District charged an Australian man for a hedge fund scam worth around $90 million.
