VISA is planning on integrating Bitcoin payment services on its platform. CEO of VISA Al Kelly revealed that the clients will soon be able to purchase Bitcoin on VISA. During a podcast entitled ‘Fortune’s Leadership Next’ Kelly revealed that his company will be working with BTC wallets.
Kelly, in an official statement, mentioned that there are two main goals that his company is currently focusing on:
“One is to enable the purchase of bitcoin on Visa credentials. And secondly, working with bitcoin wallets to allow the bitcoin to be translated into a fiat currency and therefore immediately be able to be used at any of the 70 million places around the world where Visa is accepted,”
This development comes only a month after Mastercard, VISA’a biggest competitor, disclosed plans to support crypto payment this year. The card company will also be accepting Bitcoin as well as other cryptocurrencies on its platform.
VISA and Mastercard are far from the only two firms with a firm interest in Bitcoin. The unprecedented rise of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies has sparked interest in several global companies that have been working hard on integrating BTC, and others, as payment methods. For example, TESLA recently invested $1.5 billion in Bitcoin, while also revealing that the firm will be accepting BTC as a payment means.
Currently, the official market cap for Bitcoin is at $1.05 trillion, while the price of the digital coin is, at this moment, around $55 000.
