CONSOB, the Italian financial regulator that also takes care of supervising all local FX brokers recently added 6 new domains to its list of illicit websites. The watchdog order the following websites to shut-EuropeMarkets NET, Miva Solutions, STRAT, TechWare, and Widdershins Group.
CONSOB once again reminded users that its official website has a dedicated section where users can easily identify scammer investment companies as well as fake financial firms. The Italian overseer also mentioned how important the actual identification of scam websites really is, no matter who does the identification.
On its website, CONSOB outlined that unauthorized sites and individuals lack legal requirements that “give rise to SCAMS“. CONSOB warns all investors and traders that “If you are contacted by or if you come across a domain/website which offers you the opportunity to trade online (i.e. trade on binary options and/or forex transactions), please verify first of all if it is authorized,”
The past few months have been marked by heavy collaborations between CONSOB and other regulators in a combined effort to protect investors all around. One of the recent collaborations happened between the Italian license issuer and Institute for the Supervision of Insurance to increase traders’ protection in the nation.
A total of 548 websites have been blacklisted in the last 28 months. CONSOB has increased its efforts in user protection and safety since July 2019.
